There's a specific kind of pressure that comes with a wedding invitation. You want to look considered, not costumed; celebratory, but never louder than the couple. Add a dress code you're not quite sure how to decode, and it's no wonder the search can spiral into twenty open tabs.

The answer is rarely a new wardrobe, it's one well-chosen outfit that works. A dress that photographs beautifully, shoes you can actually dance in, and an accessory or two that make it feel like yours. Buy well, wear it again, and the whole thing feels effortless.

Reading the dress code

For a formal or black-tie celebration, lean into a floor-skimming silhouette in a rich, deep tone. For a garden or daytime wedding, think fluid midis, soft prints, and a heeled sandal that won't sink into the grass. Whatever the setting, avoid white (and anything close to it) and keep jewellery refined, let one piece do the talking.

A structured clutch and a considered heel elevate almost anything. And if you're travelling to the celebration, a wrinkle-friendly fabric is your quiet best friend.
